The Big One

I spent the last year and especially the last week before my birthday agonizing over this number "40" that I would turn. What did it mean?  I still remember quite easily when my parents turned 40 and they were old when that happened! Would I suddenly wake up with more wrinkles? Would arthritis begin to set in? Would I no longer be able to do some of the activities I enjoy so much like hiking? NO. I knew that things weren't suddenly going to change and yet I found myself mourning the loss of the younger me.

To make things easier on myself, I planned some time to go shopping with my friend Amanda who had previously offered to be brave enough to shop with me (I can be really picky). Picking out some new jeans and having lunch with a friend was only the beginning of what ended up being a fantastic birthday. Later that night, Eric took me to see "O" at the Bellogio after enjoying my favorite meal--SUSHI! We were able to take in the evening with Robin and Todd who happened to be in town. Eric also bought me a new camera he has always wanted (just joking Sweety). I was really spoiled rotten (as it should be :))))) and my mind has since moved on to more important things.

Not big into self portraits but I got to do it for "The BIG One"

My sisters and mom planned a girls weekend we hope to make a tradition for when any of us turn 40. We went to St. George where we shopped, ate, went to a show at Tuachan, hiked, hot-tubbed, and just enjoyed time away. I missed having my sister-in-laws there but hope they will be able to make the next one.
