San Francisco Part Deux

Wednesday morning it was time to say good bye to Windsor and head south.  While dad and Will loaded the car, the girls wandered around the resort exploring before we left.

We then headed south to get a second day in San Francisco before heading down the coast to Monterey.  This time we entered San Francisco of the Golden Gate bridge.  It was really foggy, and we could not even see the top of the bridge.  It was a true San Francisco morning.

When we got to San Francisco it was a little chilly, and the kids thought they were going to freeze.

Our primary stop in San Francisco was the Exploratorium, the museum of science, art, and human perception.  This is the children's museum in San Francisco, and was one of the major highlights for our kids on the trip.  There are a lot of very exciting exhibits, some they really got into, and some they didn't really understand.  But regardless of how much time we spent here, it would not have been enough.

The kids had a lot of fun with these blocks.  Lyndsee could have stayed here all day.

The girls liked sitting in this big chair.  At least until Megan came and sat down.  Crunch.

Toilet bowls are just for dogs, right?  Not according to my kids!  A special thanks to Aunt Ernie for "enabling" this behavior.  I sure hope she keeps the toilets at home clean for her kids.

The red and white striped twirled around, and gave you a slightly disoriented feeling.  The kids loved running in and out of this.

The kids stuck there head into this ball, and it changed colors to alter their mood.  I'm not sure any of the really felt it, but they kept fighting to get in this.

The kids really loved this exhibit that had each light coming from a different angle so their shadows showed up in colors.

Who doesn't like blowing bubbles?  Especially when those bubbles are larger than most children?

We stayed at the Exploratorium until it was so far past lunch the kids thought they weren't going to survive any longer.  There were so many fun exhibits that we didn't get pictures of.  Like the video game that was so big, each kids was a different part of the controller.  Or the rocks that they had to walk on without making any noise.  Or the models that showed how a steam engine worked.  There is just too much to describe it all.

We left the museum before the Shifletts and split up, since they were planning on going to the Golden Gate Park, and we wanted to take our time and drive down the coastline on Highway 1.  But first we had to find a place to eat on our way out of town, because we were about to have a rebellion on our hands.  We stopped at the famous Mel's Drive-In.  The ride was just long enough Reagan and Lyndsee fell asleep, and Lyndsee didn't want to wake up, and Reagan was really struggling.  The drive-in was a lot of fun.  They had a jukebox at each table, and the kids all got their meals in a cardboard car from the 50s.  And dad got a shake.

After lunch we took a nice drive down the coast to Monterey.  We stopped at our condo in Marina Dunes.  The kids had fun playing with their cardboard cards and playing on the playground.

Cydnee and Taylor also took a walk down to the beach.

After another long day, we are looking forward to another night of rest so we can take on Monterey in the morning.

I laugh every time I see the picture of Reagan in the light ball. Little bobble-head. :)
